During the past two months, there has been a total change in our day-to-day lives.
Here are a few activities you can do while social distancing:
Learn A New Language
According to the Linguist, basic fluency in easy languages takes about 45 days. With time off from work and school, it may be easier to focus on this new task. This will be a goal and something to work towards every day. If possible, try to get a friend involved while learning your new language. You can check in with each other and help each other along with your lessons. Getting a friend involved can also help you connect with others even if you are not together physically.
Do Those DIYs
Have you bookmarked “do it yourself” tasks that you’ve always wanted to try but never had the time? Well now is the time to seize your opportunity. Go through your bookmarks or saved videos on Youtube and try to complete any of those DIYs you’ve been putting off. There are many fun crafts you can complete from home using supplies you already have in the house.
Eat Outside/ BBQ
Sitting at your dining room table or on your couch while you eat can get old and repetitive. If you’ve grown tired of the same old scenery, switch it up by dining outdoors! You can cook the meal inside, then set the table outside or prepare the whole meal on your grill.
Create A Day Dedicated to Self-Care
Now is a good time to catch up on things to do for yourself. There are many things you can do at home to help your overall well being.
Here are a few:
- Put on a face mask- Not to be confused with a surgical mask; this mask is designed to help improve your skin! Take out your favorite moisturizing face mask or find a DIY recipe online.
- Give yourself a manicure- Taking care of your hands and nails is important. Now that many people are washing their hands a lot more often, it is easy for them to become dry and cracked. Repair your dry hands with a moisturizing manicure. File your nails and remove the dead skin around your cuticles. Apply a moisturizing hand lotion and massage it in well.
- Apply a hair mask- Just because you cannot get a haircut doesn’t mean you can’t keep your hair luxurious and healthy. Use a homemade hair mask recipe to apply to your locks.
Create A Family Tree
Learning about your family history can be a great way to gain insight into yourself and learn more about your roots. Contact your family over the phone or via video calls to ask for as much information as you need to complete a family tree. If you have children, you can get them involved and make this a task to do as a family.
Play Board Games
Can you recall ever finishing a game of Monopoly? Crack open the closet and dust off those board games on the top shelf. Take this time to play board games with your family. This is a fun way to spend time together and enjoy each other’s company.
Support Your Local Businesses
Many local businesses, like restaurants and boutiques, are adjusting to the change in business. Take out delivery, and curbside pick-ups are a convenient way to support the businesses you love while following your state’s rules regarding social distancing.
